MAYOR Cllr Peter Carey will be on hand to celebrate the official launch of Warrington Centre for Sexual Health on Friday February 14.
The free and confidential service, based at Bath Street Health and Wellbeing Centre, will enable local people to access a wide range of sexual health services under one roof in the town centre as well as in other convenient locations across Warrington.
Services that will be provided by Warrington Centre for Sexual Health include full sexual health screenings, information on contraception, pregnancy testing and advice and cervical screenings (smear tests). There will be specialist support available on issues such as abortion, HIV, natural family planning and psychosexual therapy.
Warrington Centre for Sexual Health will also offer a number of services specifically for young people. These include a fast track Chlamydia / Gonorrhoea testing scheme for people under 25 in the borough as well as a C Card scheme which anyone under 19 in Warrington can sign up to for sexual health advice and access to free condoms at a number of venues across the town displaying the C Card sign. The service is also linked to Warrington’s Youth Advice Shop which provides sexual health advice for under 19s.
The service is provided by Bridgewater Community Healthcare NHS Trust in partnership with Warrington and Halton Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and has been commissioned by Public Health at Warrington Council.
Members of the public are invited to the celebration event at Bath Street Health and Wellbeing Centre which starts at 1.30pm on 14 February. There will a chance to take a tour of the facility, view a range of information on sexual health and an opportunity to put your sexual health knowledge to the test. There will also be a variety of raffle prizes up for grabs ranging from a tablet computer to tickets to see Warrington Wolves. The service launch will be followed by another event at Warrington Youth Advice Shop based in the nearby The Gateway Building on Sankey Street at 3.30pm.
