APPLETON Cricket Club has appointed Bob Milne as the first ever head coach of its senior men’s team.
The club says Milne’s appointment cements its aim to provide a coaching structure to facilitate the development of key individual players that will lead to long term success of the 1st and 2nd teams in Saturday league cricket.
Milne is an ECB level 3 coach and tutor, and Cheshire County U15 boy’s coach. He is well known within Cheshire cricket and has recently served as head coach and performance manager for Cheshire Cricket Board, and coach and development officer for the Warrington & Chester district.
Antony Hurst, Club Chairman and Development Manager, said: “This is the first time the club has decided to appoint a head coach, and we’re absolutely delighted to have secured the services of Bob Milne for 2014 and beyond.
“Latterly we have focussed our efforts on developing the club’s infrastructure, and now we have turned out attentions to the playing side.
“This is a fantastic opportunity to help all of our members playing senior men’s cricket to reach their full potential.”
At Appleton, Milne will be responsible for the content and delivery of senior men’s coaching at indoor winter training sessions and outdoor summer training session.
To maximise the effectiveness of his coaching, Milne plans to hold one-to-one coaching sessions with individual players throughout the year.
Although he will not serve on the club’s selection committee, he will attend a number of senior matches to observe on field performance and help to identify talented players for further development.
