Rugby club's £1,500 new kit boost

A WARRINGTON rugby club has unveiled new kits for its U16 and U18 teams thanks to a grant from Golden Gates Housing Trust’s Heart of the Community fund.
Bank Quay Bulls has also been able to field teams in both age groups for the first time as a result of the £1,520 funding.
The Heart of the Community Fund was established by GGHT and its partners in 2012 to support individuals and groups striving to improve the lives of local residents in the Bewsey, Dallam and Longford areas.
In the last 12 months it has allocated more than £10,000 in funding to local groups and organisations.
Other successful applicants have included Dallam and District Community Angling Group, Bewsey Lodge Primary School, Bewsey Job Club, Friends of Bewsey Park, Longford Pensioners Luncheon Club, Warrington Youth for Christ, Angels Dance Academy and Longford Families First Project.
John Barry, Bank Quay Bulls coach, said: “The funding that we have received for the new kit has given us the opportunity to field both an under 16s and 18s team for the very first time. Without the generosity of the Heart of the Community Fund we wouldn’t have been in a position to expand our youth provision and provide positive activities for our young members.
“Also the time we have saved by not having to organise fundraising events has enabled us to focus on increasing our links with the local community and to put in place plans for developing new teams. We are currently looking at a number of new initiatives including developing sessions for 6-12 year olds.”
