Healthcare blueprint unveiled

DRAFT healthcare plans for Warrington for the next 18 months have been announced.
Warrington Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), the NHS body responsible for planning and buying health services for the town, says it has drawn up the proposals after listening to what residents have told them.
The organisation, which is midway through a three year health and social care transformation project, has set out refreshed commissioning intentions for this year and next that reflect the transformational programme work already underway in Warrington.
CCG chiefs will continue to focus on nine key areas of work including Primary Care; End of Life; Long-term Conditions and Frail older people; Children; Planned Care; Mental Health, Medicines Management; Urgent Care; and preventing premature death.
The plans have been developed with commissioning partners, including Warrington Borough Council Public Health, and reflect local health and social care indicative findings of last year’s lifestyle survey undertaken by the council as well as other health priority areas as highlighted in Warrington’s Annual Status Review 2013/14, the Joint Strategic Needs Assessment refresh 2011 and the Joint Health and Wellbeing Strategy 2012.
Dr Andy Davies, local GP and chairman of Warrington CCG (pictured), said: “By listening to what our residents have told us and looking at what local health issues need to be addressed, we have developed our healthcare plans for the next 18 months.
“Our primary focus will continue to be improving the way people access health and social care services in Warrington, the quality of those services and people’s experiences of it.”
Local people can view the full draft commissioning intentions and have their say on the plans by completing a short survey, both available online via www.warringtonccg.nhs.uk/about-us/what-were-working-on.htm
John Wicks, interim chief officer of the CCG, said: “The patient’s voice is always at the heart of everything we do so if you have an interest in any health or social care service, whether it is seeing your GP, short or long-term hospital care, operations, treatment or something else, then please do give us your feedback. Your views are important to us.”
The CCG team will be on hand to discuss the draft plans with local people, answer public questions and listen to feedback at a number of drop-in events being held across Warrington as follows:
* Birchwood Leisure Centre, Monday, February 3, 10am to 12 noon
* Broomfields Leisure Centre, Wednesday February 5, 4pm to 6pm
* Orford Jubilee Hub, Friday, February 7, 1pm to 3pm.
Anyone who would like to attend one of these sessions or speak directly to the CCG should contact Paul Steele via [email protected] or 01925 843 774.
