A MAN died today after being struck by a train at Warrington’s Bank Quay station.
Ambulance crews were called to the scene but pronounced the man dead.
The incident occurred shortly after 12 noon and train bosses said services could be delayed by up to an hour.
A British Transport Police spokesman said: ““BTP officers were called to Warrington Bank Quay station after a report that a man had been struck by a train.
“The incident was reported to BTP at 12.35pm and was also attended by Cheshire Constabulary officers. Medics from the North West Ambulance Service attended but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.”
Police do not believe the death is suspicious and a file is now being prepared for the coroner.
The spokesman added: “We are currently working to establish the identity of the man and inform his family.”
It could be some time before services are back to normal.
