BUSINESSES across Warrington and Cheshire attended a high profile investment event hosted by the Duke of Westminster in London
Organised by Cheshire & Warrington Enterprise Partnership in conjunction with Marketing Cheshire and Warrington & Co., the event was designed to introduce potential investors to companies in the sub-region and strengthen relationships for the future.
Businesses from the automotive, bioscience, chemicals and energy sectors shared their aspirations with London-based venture capitalists where they gained encouraging interest in their expansion plans.
Warrington and Cheshire Business Leaders, representatives from some of the sub-region’s most successful businesses and representatives of local authorities were present.
Sajid Javid MP, Financial Secretary to the Treasury addressed guests by setting the scene for the UK economy this year.
He said: “Cheshire and Warrington has a crucial part to play in the economic success of the UK. Whether it’s building luxury cars to export or helping tourists taking advantage of what the area has to offer, the 430,000 people employed in the region are all making a valuable contribution.
“The government is doing everything we can to create the conditions for further growth. We are removing the regulatory and the tax burdens on businesses, making it easier for them to access funding and investing in infrastructure and skills. And I hope that these efforts empower the people of Warrington and Cheshire to drive growth at a local level and play their part in the recovery.”
Steve Park, managing director of Warrington & Co., the town’s partnership for growth, said: “This was a great event which we were delighted to assist in facilitating in conjunction with Marketing Cheshire.
“Warrington is an economic power house and this was an opportunity for us to help our businesses meet with London based investors and so maintain and grow that position of economic strength”
Christine Gaskell, chairman of the Cheshire and Warrington Enterprise Partnership added: “This event is not just about promoting Warrington and Cheshire but also about promoting our sectors and businesses that have a real potential for growth.
“London based investors have seen the true investment potential of Warrington and Cheshire and we look forward to hearing how their relationships develop with businesses across the sub-region.”
The event was supported by BT who are currently in the process of rolling out high speed fibre to more than 96 per cent of businesses in Cheshire and Warrington, further enhancing the sub-region’s suitability for investment.
