FORMER member Paul Campbell is to seek re-election to Warrington Borough Council in the May elections.
He will contest the Culcheth, Glazebury and Croft ward for the Conservatives following the decision of sitting councillor Les Hoyle to stand down.
Paul (pictured) – a member of Culcheth and Glazebury Parish Council and a local resident – was a borough councillor from 2008 to 2012.
He was Conservative Parliamentary candidate for Warrington North at the 2010 General Election and was chairman of the parish council in 2007.
He took early retirement from the police service and is married to Helena, with a grown up family.
He said: “As a local resident, it is a great honour to be selected and offered the opportunity to serve the residents of Culcheth, Glazebury and Croft.
“Les will be missed as a borough councillor but I am glad he will still be around as a parish councillor at Croft to continue to provide his wisdom and support in the future.
“The three villages that make up the ward make it a wonderful place to live. I know many of the residents and have many friends in the ward so I am looking forward to canvassing the views of as many people as possible over the next few months.”
Cllr Hoyle said: “Paul has the kind of experience needed to fill such a role, experience which can only benefit the people of the ward and he has my full support in the campaign ahead.”
Chairman of the Conservatve Party in Warrington North, Cllr Keith Bland said: “We are pleased that Paul is going to be our candidate in May. Paul is exactly the type of councillor a ward need – one who works hard for all the residents and wants to make sure that the area where we live is the best in Warrington.”
