RUGBY League legends are expected to turn out in force for the funeral of former Warrington Wolves’ groundsman and kit man Roy Ockher Aspinall, which takes place at Warrington Parish Church next Friday (Jan 24) at 1pm.
Roy, who died last week in Warrington Hospital aged 76, was known by everybody as Ockher and was one of life’s most colourful characters.
Although he hailed from St Helens he had been connected with Warrington Rugby League Club for 42 years.
Following the funeral there will be a service at St Helens Crematorium at 2.30pm.

Pictures show Ockher with the Wembley winning team from 1973-74 and (above) more recently at the unveiling of the Wolves’ heritage wall at the Halliwell Jones Stadium.
