A CONSULTATION has launched to hear residents’ views on a new cycling route through Westbrook and Dallam.
With money secured from the Local Sustainable Transport Fund the council is proposing a new foot and cycle path between Westbrook Way/Cromwell Avenue and Sankey Valley Park.
The new path will provide a link to the east west cycle network and connect residents in the areas to key education, employment and leisure sites.
The consultation launched on Monday 13 January and will end on Friday 7 February 2014.
Two drop-in events are also being held for residents to view the plans and speak to the transport team:
· Thursday 16 January 2-7pm at Orford Jubilee Neighbourhood Hub
· Friday 24 January 2-7pm Westbrook Library
Residents can also view and have their say on the council’s website www.warrington.gov.uk/consultations
Cllr Linda Dirir, executive board member for highways, transportation and climate change, said: “We hope this new scheme will give residents in these areas more access to local business parks and education sites.
“The new path will also help reduce congestion in the area and encourage more people to take up healthier forms of transport. We want as many people as possible to come along to the events and let us know what they think about the plans.”
Last year Warrington Borough Council secured £4.65 million of funding from the government’s Local Sustainable Transport Fund (LSTF) to promote greater use of sustainable and low carbon travel choices and help connect local people to jobs and services.
