Heroes welcome for theatre group

THEATRE group Say Two were given a “heroes” welcome by English students at Warrington Collegiate, performing the GCSE text Heroes by Robert Cormier.
In an interactive workshop after the performance the actors shared their experiences of playing the major characters in the book and replayed scenes from the book with the students playing the major characters.
Lauren McElroy, aged 19 from Orford, studying English and childcare, said: “The whole experience was brilliant. Exploring the story through drama enabled me to understand the book more that I would through just reading it. After the performance we were able to question the actors and they answered in character which gave me an added insight into how they relate to each other and the story.”
Manjot Srawn, 17 from Orford, studying English and Business, added: “The whole experience was amazing, this is a fantastic way to study a book. After completing my course I’m hoping to go onto University to study International Marketing. I’m now confident I’m going to get a top good grade in my English exam.”
Rebecca Loudonsack, Performer and workshop Leader, Say Two Productions, said: “The students were really enthusiastic. Seeing the book preformed brings their studies imaginatively to life, allowing them to see the text as real live characters. The students were able to come out of the classroom and question the test through experiencing it in a way they’ve not done before.”
