PLANS to convert an old barn into four dwellings have been approved by Warrington planners – subject to special measures to protect any bats which might be using the building.
The barn is on land off Cherry Lane, Lymm – and it was opposed by Lymm councillors and nearby residents.
But the objections were mainly based on road safety issues, loss of privacy and light and the fact that the site is in the Green Belt.
Lymm councillor Ian Marks lodged an objection on the grounds that the proposed access was “particularly dangerous.”
Cllr Sheila Woodyatt and Cllr Bob Barr also expressed concern about traffic issues on busy Cherry Lane.
Cllr Woodyatt said: “I was concerned about the number of dwellings there will be on the site. But there were no real planning grounds on which we could refuse the scheme.”
Planning officers recommended the scheme be approved – subject to resolving issues regarding a rare species of bat which could be roosting in the barn.

but all three local Councillors DID object to it……..not in my back yard eh….??
They are simply not living in the real world!!! When you see an entire estate with hundreds of homes go up in WARRINGTON and not one single change to the road system……………. thats when you should call it “particularly dangerous” or “express concern about traffic issues “…and thats when you should be “concerned about the number of dwellings”………………………..at times its scandalous what these three councillors object to while they sit by and watch the rest of the Town get stiffed day after day. Particularly when one has designs on being in control of the council again one day….!!!!!!
