Fly tipper must pay £500

A MAN has been ordered to pay fines and costs totalling more than £500 for fly tipping in Warrington.
Jaunito Abreu, of Clumber Road, Manchester, appeared at Warrington Magistrates’ Court and pleaded guilty to two offences under Section 34 of the Environmental Protection Act 1990.
He was fined £300 and ordered to pay £200 costs and a £35 victim surcharge.
Abreu admitted to passing on waste without having checked the person he passed the waste to was a registered waste carrier and also not getting the required waste transfer note.
The prosecution followed the discovery of a large amount of fly tipped waste on the outskirts of Culcheth.
After the fly tipping was reported to the borough council, the enforcement team was able to track down the people responsible and take necessary action.
After the hearing, Cllr David Keane, the council’s lead member for environment and public protection, said: “Our enforcement team is out and about investigating fly tipped waste and other environment crime and is committed to finding the perpetrators and taking whatever action is necessary.
“There is also a really important message for residents in terms of how they dispose of their waste. People should make sure that any person or company that they may hire to remove waste, for example if you are moving house, has the right documents including a waste carrier’s licence. If you don’t you could end up paying for their mistakes.”
