Community officers brought festive cheer

LOCAL residents were treated to a three course Christmas dinner at St Werburgh’s community hub on Boswell Avenue thanks to three police community support officers based at Stockton Heath police station.
Nearly 40 residents from the Gainsborough Road area attended the hub where ex chefs, P.C.S.O’s Tom Reid and Daren Dennis, prepared and cooked the meal with ingredients kindly donated by Co-operative food stores.
Before dinner residents were entertained by Co-op store manager David Appleton’s stand up comedy routine and P.C.S.O Tony Spruce called games of bingo.
Hub chairman Les Morgan said: ‘It was nice to see so many local people enjoying themselves, the P.C.S.O’s worked extremely hard to ensure the day was a success and the donation from the Co-operative was greatly appreciated.”
The community hub, that recently celebrated its 1st birthday, holds a coffee morning each Thursday, ‘Little Werby’s’ parent and child group on a Wednesday and several other community activities throughout the year.
