PROUD mum Wendy Parry has received her OBE at Buckingham Palace from HRH Prince Charles – who visited Warrington in the wake of the 1993 bomb attack which claimed the lives of 12-year-old Tim Parry and three-year-old Johnathan Ball.
The mother of Tim, who was killed by the IRA bomb blast in Bridge Street, Warrington, received the OBE in the Queen’s 2013 Birthday Honours list.
Wendy, together with husband Colin, is the co-founder of the Foundation For Peace, now a national and international charity established in the boys memory.
Husband Colin received an OBE in 2004.
Wendy is the inspiration behind the creation of the international Peace Centre in Warrington, opened in 2000 to help support people affected by political violence and terrorism and promote programmes in the prevention and resolution of violent conflict.
Wendy said she was: “Very proud and honoured to receive the OBE.
“Everything we have done in the past has been to keep Tim and Johnathan’s names alive. This could be another thing that will help do that.”
The investiture took place in the Ballroom at Buckingham Palace.
Wendy was joined at the event by Colin and their two children Dominic and Abbi.
