A much changed Warrington Town team went down 3-0 at Burscough in the Doodson Sports Cup.
Only goal keeper Josk Cook, stand in skipper Peter Dogan, left back David Thompson and winger Liam Dawson, figured in the starting line-up from Saturday’s 1-0 victory over the same team at the HG Driver Recruitment Stadium, which took Warrington three points clear at the top of the Evo-Stik Division One North.
In a tight first half Burscough opened the scoring after Thompson lost possession allowing Conor Roberts to score.
Warrington came close to equalising with a shot hitting the cross bar.
In the second half Roberts added a second from the penalty spot with substitute Liam Caddick making sure with a third goal near the end.
Warrington return to league action when they visit third placed Farsley on Saturday.
