Town bow out of FA Trophy

WARRINGTON Town exited the FA Trophy at the first hurdle as they were edged out 1-2 at home to Ramsbottom United – their second cup exit in a week.
Warrington got off to a great start, taking the lead after just six minutes as Liam Dawson fired home from wide out.
But within a minute the visitors were on level terms from the penalty spot through Philip Dean.
The lively Chris Gahgan almost put Town back in front on 26 minutes with a spectacular over head kick which saw the ball hit the upright with the keeper beaten.
But it was the visitors who took the lead as they hit Warrington on the break with Dominic Smalley finding the back of the net on the half hour.
Chances were few and far between in the second half, as Warrington, who were already missing their injured striking partnership of Ciaran Kilheeney and Ben Wharton, had young full-back Phil Davies carried off with a foot injury.
The game saw the return of striker Tony Evans and winger Ash Ruane for Town.
Warrington wil be looking to get back to winning ways when they return to league action next Saturday when they welcome Padiham to the HG Recruitment Stadium.

TEAM: Cook, Davies, Thompson, Dogan, McCarten, Millington, Gahgan, Mannix (C), Evans, Metcalfe.
Subs: Ruane, Newby, West, Kennedy, Turner.
