WARRINGTON Town have announced the capture of former fans’ favourite Tony Evans from Northwich Victoria.
The 6ft 3 striker couldn’t arrive at a better time following injuries to Ben Wharton and Ciaran Kilheeney and will go straight into Saturday’s squad to face Ramsbottom United in the FA Trophy at the HG Driver Recruitment Stadium, kick off 3pm.
Warrington will be looking to bounce back from their FA Cup exit after a 10 game unbeaten run and being named Evo-Stik Division One North “Team of the Month” for September.
Director of Football Toby Macormac said: “Everyone at Warrington Town was disappointed to see Evo leave but he went with our blessing as we didn’t want to stand in his way of playing at a higher level.
“We are now delighted to welcome him back to his home town club.
Town manager Shaun Reid added: “I have had Evo on the radar for a while and he couldn’t be arriving at a better time due to the injuries picked by our two main front men.
“He is a quality striker and a welcome addition to our squad.”
Evans’ previous clubs include: Southport, Burscough, Marine, Witton Albion and Skelmersdale United and Radcliffe.
The 28-year-old was Warrington’s top scorer when he left in 2011 with 11 goals from 16 starts in league and cup.
He hit the net a dozen times the previous season.
