THREE thugs threatened a man with a knife at Warrington and demanded money.
The terrified 24-year-old victim told them he had no money and offered his mobile ‘phone but the offenders said they only wanted money and then ran off.
Police today appealed for witnesses of the incident at Birchwood on September 20.
The attempted robbery took place on an alleyway between Admirals Road and Chaffinch Close at around 4.55pm. The three thugs blocked the man’s passage – one brandishing a knife.
DC Tracy Earley said: “We are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident and are keen to speak to anyone who may have been in the area at the time and has seen anything significant. We are also urging anyone who may have been in the area at the time and has seen the offenders fleeing the scene to contact us.
“Fortunately the victim was not injured as a result of his ordeal but he was very shaken up by what happened.”
The first offender was in his mid teens, of slim build, with short, light coloured hair and around 5ft 3 inches tall. He had a two-inch scar on his chin, which was fading, and a pale complexion. He was wearing dark tracksuit bottoms, light/white trainers, a black hooded top with a tick across the chest area and the words “JUST DO IT” written in multi colours underneath. He spoke with a local accent.
The second offender was of similar age, around 5 ft 2 inches tall, of stocky build, with dark crew cut hair and dark bushy eyebrows. He had large hands and was wearing a dark tracksuit.
The third offender was also of similar age. He had tanned skin, was around six feet tall and was wearing dark trousers and a light coloured T-shirt.
Anyone with any information is urged to call Cheshire Police on 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
