Town make it four in a row!

WARRINGTON Town celebrated the New Year in style as they made if four league wins in a row with a 2-0 victory over near neighbours Witton Albion at Cantilever Park.
With both teams battling for a place in the end of season play-offs there was little to choose between the sides in the opening exchanges.
Chris Gahgan had Warrington’s best chance mid-way through the half when he controlled the ball well in the box and rounded the keeper only to see his goalward bound shot cleared off the line.
But with the half drawing to a close Gahgan found the back of the net when he was given plenty of time to pick his spot from just 10 yards out to make it 1-0 at the break.
Town struggled to kill off the game in the second half missing a couple of chances but eventually made all three points safe five minutes from time when Gavin Salmon, back in the starting line up in the absence of the suspended Chris Thompson, managed to squeeze the ball past Witton keeper Matt Cooper.
Midfielders Anthony Hickey and man-of-the-match Sam Finley and forward Alan Collins worked tirelessly for the team as the victory took Town up to 8th in the table, within touching distance of the play-off places.
Town face a real test to maintain their unbeaten run when they travel to table topping Chester FC on Bank Holiday on Monday, kick off 3pm.

Team: Pritchard, Duffy, Corrigan, T Hardwick, Tomlinson (c), Wade, Hickey, Finley, Collins, Salmon, Gahgan. Subs: R Hardwick, Jukes, Millington, Rutter, Ness.
