WARRINGTON Wolves have confirmed contract extensions with eleven players retaining the core of the current squad for next season and beyond – to the delight of Head of Coaching Tony Smith.
Centre Ryan Atkins, (pictured right) utility player Simon Grix and back rower Ben Harrison have penned new deals keeping them at the club for four years until November 2017.
Aussie winger Joel Monaghan and up-and-coming forward Glenn Riley, who made his first-team debut this season, will both remain at the Wolves for the next three seasons until November 2016.
Chris Riley, Micky Higham, Paul Wood, Ryan Shaw and Danny Bridge have all agreed two-year contract extensions with the Primrose and Blue until the end of 2015 with hooker Michael Monaghan confirming a one-year deal for a further season until November 2014.
Wolves’ head of coaching and rugby Tony Smith said on these contract extensions: “We are delighted to be retaining the stability of our squad and we are really pleased that these players are staying on to help continue to build this great club. The fact that we are getting stronger as a squad each year has probably been shown by the number of consecutive wins we’ve had recently. It has shown that we are still improving and we are striving to get better and better each year. We’ve got some terrific young players coming through and the consistency of our senior players has been fantastic as well. We are delighted that we will only have a small turnover of players once again; that’s the way we like it at Warrington.”
Meanwhile the club are believed to have added to the squad with the signing of Featherstone’s 24-year-old Prop Anthony England, who has been seen training with the team.

Joel Monaghan – three more years.
