WARRINGTON’S Wendy Parry, the mother of IRA bomb victim Tim Parry, has been awarded the OBE – 20 years after the death of her son.
The award, in the Queen’s Birthday Honours, was announced today.
Mrs Parry has, with her husband, Colin, worked tirelessly in the years since the Bridge Street bombing tragedy to raise funds for the Tim Parry Johnathan Ball Foundation for Peace, the charity they created in memory of their son.
The award comes 18 years after the foundation was formed to carry out programmes supporting the victims of terrorism internationally.
In the years since it was formed, the foundation has become internationally known and its Peace Centre at Great Sankey one of the best known buildings in Warrington.
Mr Parry, who is chairman of the Foundation, said today: “She deserves this recognition for all she has done in Tim’s memory.”
