FLOURISHING flowerboxes have been donated to the Peace Centre and Brainwave by the Golden Square Shopping Centre in Warrington.
The flowerboxes were produced as part of the Golden Square’s allotment scheme, which saw children from the local community taking part in craft workshops including painting flowerpots and planting bulbs and seeds.
Wendy Parry, from the Peace Centre, said: “We are delighted to receive such a wonderful gift. The Peace garden is looking lovely at the moment and the flowerboxes will add a splash of colour just in time for the summer. This donation is even more special knowing that local young people have created them.”
The Peace Centre houses three charities that work with vulnerable children, young people and adults affected by violent conflict and soldiers returning from overseas.
Brainwave, based in Birchwood, helps children across the UK with cerebral palsy, autism and developmental delay.
General Manager at Golden Square, Ian Cox, said: “I’m actually a bit sad to see the planters go; they’ve really brightened the centre up! However I am really pleased that the Peace Centre and Brainwave will benefit from the scheme, they’re really worthy charities and have been so appreciative of our donation.”
Marketing Manager at Golden Square, Anna Batt, presents planters from Golden Square’s allotment scheme to the Peace Centre’s Karen McManus and Wendy Parry.
