Parr Hall is a top music venue

WARRINGTON’S Parr Hall has been recognised as one of the best live music venues in the country at the annual Music Week awards.
It was the only venue in the North West to be nominated in the “Live Music Venue” category and only lost out to the O2 Arena in London – formerly known as the Millennium Dome.
The Music Week awards celebrate and recognise the finest commercial and creative successes in the UK music industry. Big names who were nominated in other categories included Chris Evans for his BBC Radio 2 breakfast show and Capital FM for Radio Station of the Year.
Although comparatively small for a music venue, Parr Hall has a strong history of hosting legendary bands, including the Rolling Stones, The Who, Arctic Monkeys and The Courteeners to name a few.
More recently The Stone Roses chose Parr Hall for their first live performance in 16 years.
Parr Hall became a focal point for the UK’s media when the band announced a last-minute show at 4pm on the day, and over 1000 fans from all over the country descended on the venue to queue for tickets for the exclusive performance. The only way in was to produce a CD inlay cover, record sleeve, official band T-Shirt or a ticket for the Reunion Tour shows to get a free wristband to enter.
On the night the band filled the venue performing tracks from their iconic first album titled The Stone Roses.
The set list was full of classic anthems and the gig became last year’s biggest and features in the Stone Roses reunion documentary filmed and directed by acclaimed British filmmaker Shane Meadows for release later this year.
Other recent big music performances include Beady Eye’s only UK headline show last year, which featured Liam Gallagher’s band playing Oasis’ songs for the very first time, and Miles Kane warmed up for his V Festival appearance at the venue.
Parr Hall welcomes a wide range of music with folk legends Bellowhead, Madness front man Suggs and soul idol Billy Ocean performing at the venue in the coming months.
Venue manager, Chris Persoglio said: “I’m absolutely thrilled that we were recognised as one of the best music venues in the UK. It’s all down to the dedication, commitment and passion of the staff. They ensure that each and every performance held at Parr Hall reaches its full potential which is recognised by touring personnel across the country and is the reason that national promoters return time and again”.
