Defeat ends play off hopes

WARRINGTON Town’s faint play-off hopes all but ended as they went down

2-1 at Cammell Laird with former striker Jamie Henders on target with

both goals.
Henders gave the hosts a slender 1-0 lead as he fired home courtesy of a deflection after 34 minutes to break the deadlock.
Andy Fowler missed a great chance for Town when he was through one on one with the keeper but fired wide.
In the second half Warrington created the best of the chances and were eventually rewarded when susbstitute Kieran Kilheeney poked the ball home after a shot from Darren Kinsey bounced kindly into his path ten minutes from time.
But as Warrington pushed for a winner it was Lairds who grabbed the clincher on 90 minutes as Henders kept his cool to slot home, leaving Warrington eight points off a play off place with just five games remaining.
Next up for Town is the visit of Ramsbottom, next Saturday, which will the final home league game of the season.
