Sooty and Sweep sell out success

SOOTY and Sweep fans travelled the length of breadth of the country to attend a sell out show featuring children’s TV presenter Matthew Corbett from Lymm.

A special Winter Warmer event at the Lymm Hotel featuring Sooty’s long-time presenter Matthew helped raise funds for the annual Lymm Festival in the village.
A video interview with Matthew by warrington-worldwide Editor Gary Skentelbery resulted in a great response to the show entitled “Twenty five years with my hand up a bear’s bum!”
Organiser Alan Williams said they had not bargained for the response they got but thanks to Matthew’s interview with Gary, tickets were bought from as far afield as London, Edinburgh and York.
Alan said: “The visitors were treated to a night of pure nostalgia as Matthew told Sooty’s life story from the early days when there was only one TV channel starring Sooty through to his guest appearance at a Beatles’ family birthday party.
“Lifelong fan Laura Chudleigh (pictured above) summed it up when she said ‘I had the most wonderful evening and can’t believe I got to meet Matthew.’”
Alan said he was amazed by the response, and that all the visitors enjoyed the show and seeing the village, with many planning to return.
Matthew Corbett shares a Sooty and Sweep moment with some of his long distance fans, Laura Chudleigh (London), Simon Bowling (York) and Harry Chapman (Edinburgh) and below the video interview.
