Helpline for bombing anniversary

A HELPLINE has been set up to support people as Warrington marks the 20th anniversary of the IRA bombing.
Mental Health Matters (MHM) will be operating the 24 hour, seven days a week helpline between March 11-25th and the number is 0800 0851720.
People can choose to call if they feel anxious, low or stressed and feel like talking to another person might help them to cope.
People who ring the helpline will speak to a highly trained and experienced support worker who will use counselling skills to provide support, guidance and information about local services which may be helpful.
The call is confidential.
Cllr Mike Hannon, deputy leader of the borough council, said: “Marking this important anniversary will be an emotional experience for so many of us and as we continue to support each other and stay united as a town, as we have done over the past 20 years, it is important to the council that people have access to the right support.
Brendan McLoughlin, director of services for Mental Health Matters, said: “We are pleased to offer support to the people of Warrington through our helpline, a service which lots of people have found helpful. It can provide an additional source of help and support to that from friends and families.”
The Tim Parry Johnathan Ball Foundation for Peace also offers support all year round.
Chief executive Nick Taylor said: “The next few weeks will bring back many memories and the helpline will be available for anyone affected. The Foundation’s professional team will be working closely with the council to provide support as it is needed.”
The council and The Tim Parry Johnathan Ball Foundation for Peace are holding various events to mark the anniversary including a civic event in Bridge Street (12-12.45pm) followed by a celebratory event at the Peace Centre (2-5pm) on Saturday March 16.
