Wire invite fans to pay what they like!

WARRINGTON Town are looking to kick start the new year with a special promotion to encourage new fans to get behind the club’s push for the play offs.
For their New Year’s Day clash with Cammell Laird, kick off 3pm, the club is running a “Pay what you like gate” with a minimum donation of £2 to help cover match day running costs.
As usual all youngsters aged under 12 are allowed in free, along with students from Warrington Collegiate and Priestley College.
With normal match day prices being £8 for adults and £5 for concessions it offers a great saving.
Chairman Gary Skentelbery explained: “We realise money is tight for lots of families following Christmas and it is a long time off pay day for those who will not be getting paid again until the end of January.
“We are always looking at ways of boosting our gates so we have decided to allow those attending our New Year’s Day game to pay what they like on the gate – as long as we receive a minimum donation of £2 to help cover the costs of the match day officials.
“Hopefully those who can afford to will donate a little more – but it is entirely down to the discretion of those coming through the turnstile.
“As well as helping those who are a little short of cash at this time of the year we hope to attract some new fans through the gate.
“Although we are enjoying one of our best seasons in the league and competing for a place in the play offs the gates in recent weeks have been a little disappointing and not been helped by the weather.
“We hope those new fans who take up the offer will enjoy what they see and come back for more!”
