WARRINGTON Town continued their good form coming from a goal down to

defeat Bamber Bridge 3-1 at the Abacus Solicitors’ Community Stadium – making it nine points in a week!
In a game which started slowly, it was the visitors that took a surprise early lead, striker Greg Johnstone latching onto a throughball and lashing his powerful shot beyond Town keeper Andy Robertson and in off the far post.
This was the wake up call that Town needed to start playing, and within a minute, John Miles shot too close to Bridge keeper Lee Dovey, who saved well. Town were not to be denied for long, and equalised within three minutes of falling behind, recent signing Ciaran Kilheeney scoring his second goal in two games, when he found a yard of space in the penalty area, and placed his header beyond a statuesque Dovey and into the bottom corner.
After levelling the scores, Town looked like the team most likely to go on and win the game, Townson seeing his shot well saved by Dovey. Town hit the front in the 25th minute, and it was the ex Liverpool midfielder Miles (pictured right), who created and scored the goal, receiving the ball on the edge of the area, a quick piece of footwork, saw him go past his marker, before coolly shooting beyond Dovey and into the net. Town continued to dominate proceedings, going close soon after through centre half Adam Flynn, who dragged his shot narrowly wide after good work in the build up by Miles. Town were to suffer two blows before half time, losing both midfielder Lee Parle and defender Adam Mitter to injury, the two being replaced by Phil Mooney and James McCarten respectively.
Despite being under pressure for much of the half, Bridge had a great opportunity to equalise early in the second half, striker Andrew Bell seeing his looping header go beyond Robertson, only to be cleared off the line by the retreating McCarten. Once again, after this early scare, Town continued to dominate the game, and should have extended their lead before the hour mark, Townson seeing his pin point cross headed over by the unmarked Kilheeney from eight yards. Bridge were indebted to Dovey once again soon after, for a fantastic double save, saving initially from Mooney, and reacting superbly to save Townson’s follow up at full length, when it looked odds on for the in form striker to score.
Town were denied what looked like a certain penalty with eleven minutes left, Jimmy McCarthy being clearly pushed over by full back Rob Henry, with referee Mr Dowd waving away the claims of the Town players. With nine minutes left, Shaun Reid introduced Town’s newest signing, Andrew Kilheeney into proceedings, linking up with elder brother Ciaran in the Yellow shirt of Town, after replacing Townson.
With seven minutes to go, Town finally extended their lead, Miles bagging a brace, after being given time and space on the edge of the penalty area, to curl a shot through a packed penalty area and into the far corner of the net. There was still time, for Bridge to go close to getting a second goal, substitute striker Craig Carney seeing his shot parried by Robertson, and the same player being denied by Robertson once again from the rebound. The last chance of the game falling to Bridge midfielder Alastair Waddecar, who found himself through on goal, only to be denied by a fantastic last gasp challenge by full back Phil Doran.(Pictured below)
