HEAVY traffic congestion has been reported today in Warburton Bridge Road, Rixton, near Warrington after a lorry got stuck on the bridge.
The toll bridge, over the Manchester Ship Canal, looks set to remain closed overnight.
Police were call to the scene earlier today when a lorry carrying compressed cardboard became stuck on the bridge.
It came into contact with bridge supports and engineers were called to the scene to assess the severity of damage to the bridge.
No-one was injured.
The road has been sealed off at its junction with Manchester Road.
