WARRINGTON Town slumped to their 5th consecutive defeat as they went
down 3-1 at home to Lancaster City, finishing with nine men on the pitch
for the second game running.
For most of the first half Warrington were the dominant team and were eventually rewarded when striker Kevin Townson (pictured top) netted just before the break to make it 1-0.
But Townson limped off with an ankle injury at the interval to be replaced by Ash Ruane.
Lancaster levelled as keeper Adam Judge was caught out of position and always looked dangerous on the counter attack as Warrington pushed forward.
The visitors took the lead against the run of play and things went from bad to worse as Luke Holden saw red for the second time in three games for a foot up while skipper Peter Dogan suffered a dislocated shoulder for the second time this season.
With all the substitutes on Warrington had to finish the game with nine men, with Ruane hitting the cross bar when through on goal.
Deep in injury time Lancaster rubbed salt in the wounds as Judge was ruled to have fouled in the area with the visitors adding a third from the penalty spot.
Things don’t get any easier for Warrington as they head to Salford on Saturday, probably without the services of Townson and Dogan.
