WARRINGTON Town’s seven game unbeaten run came to an end as they bowed out of the FA Trophy at the first hurdle going down 2-1 at home to Leek Town.
Manager Shaun Reid handed a starting debut to new signing Zac Aley as Warrington dominated much of the first half but didn’t convert their chances with the half ending 0-0
In the second period, the match game to life in the 57th minute when Kevin Townson was fouled by Ricky Bridge and Warrington were awarded a penalty. Townson (pictured top) calmly converted the resulting kick giving the home side a 1-0 lead.
But within two minutes the scores were level after a goalmouth scramble. Leek’s Matt Hadrell’s shot was well saved by Adam Judge before Karl Charlton scored the follow up.
With just 4 minutes left on the clock, Charlton scored the winner to inflict Warrington Town’s first defeat of the season.
Town are next in action away at Colwyn Bay in the 2nd qualifing round of the FA Cup.
