MP urges residents to make voices heard

WARRINGTON North MP Helen Jones has called on local residents to make their voices heard over controversial plans to develop 150 homes on land at Peel Hall.
Helen has been campaigning with local residents for years to prevent “unwanted, unnecessary and inappropriate development” taking place on the land at Peel Hall.
Already a petition organised by Helen opposing plans to developthe land has received more than 1,000 signatures from local residents.
She said: “I have been campaigning for years to prevent unwanted and inappropriate development near to people’s homes on land at Peel Hall. The developer Satnam has now submitted a planning application to build 150 homes, flood-lights and sports facilities on Peel Hall and I am calling on local residents to make their voices heard by responding to the Council’s consultation.
“Over 1,000 people have signed my petition against plans to develop land at Peel Hall. This proposal does not offer the affordable housing that Warrington needs and the impact on local residents through increased traffic and the loss of green spaces is unacceptable.
“I wrote to local residents in July with information showing that Satnam have long-term plans to develop land at Peel Hall over a number of phases which could lead to the building of as many as 1,400 houses. I believe that if the initial application to build 150 properties on Peel Hall is approved then this will lead to more and more houses being built on the land. That is why it is essential that as a community we show that this development is not wanted.”
Residents now have until October 3 to respond to the Council’s consultation on the planning application.
Details of the planning application can be found by visiting www.warrington.gov.uk and following the links to the planning application directory. The application number is 2012/20610 or it can be found by searching for ‘Peel Hall’.

  1. Thanks for that, WWW, as it’s not been reported elsewhere, but I have received a letter today from Peter Taylor, Assistant Director of Development and Public Protection (?!), informing me of the planning application.

Had a quick look at the planning thingie and the first thing I noticed was the new address for Satnam, I’ll update on the Peel Hall thread when I’ve figured out where it is.

For anyone interested enough, it’s worth looking at post #61 on the Peel Hall thread, to see what Peter Taylor had to say back in March.

    Couple of questions:

Does anyone know who he is an assistant to?

Does anyone know when the core strategy document should pass approval?

  2. Absolutely no chance of WBC Councillors listening to their electorate. Despite all that has been said on this matter the WBC Officers will have the final say. When is Coun O’Neill going to ensure that the Councillors run WBC and not the Officers for the good of the Town?
