Six of the best for Wire!

WARRINGTON Town recorded their biggest league victory for many a year as they hit second placed New Mills for six at their Church Lane ground with a resounding 1-6 victory.
A hat-trick for striker Lee McEvilly, (pictured right) two for midfielder Michael Reid and one for youth team striker James Anderson, secured Warrington’s first three points of the season.
Town, wearing their new Blue and White away kit, immediately took the game to their high flying hosts, taking the lead in the ninth minute, neat interplay between Liam Shipton and Peter Doran,(Pictured top) saw the latter produce a fantastic cross, from which Mike Reid produced a looping header that deceived New Mills keeper James Coates and dropped into the net, when most of the spectators inside Church Lane, thought had gone over the bar.
After conceding early on, the home side came straight back at Town, winger Liam Horrocks seeing his cross headed narrowly over by Daniel Douglas-Pringle from close range soon after. The same pair combined again soon after, and this time, the striker saw his header strike the Town cross bar and rebound to safety.
Town went further ahead just after the mid point of the half, a mazy run and pass from Liam Shipton found Lee McEvilly in the box, and the striker produced a sumptuous lob, which left Coates statuesque and dropped into the net.
Despite being two goals behind, the home side never gave up and almost pulled a goal back just after the half hour, with Horrocks shooting across the face of the Warrington goal, after Doran had misjudged a long ball out of defence by the home side. Town, were still, generally, in control of the game, with debutant striker John Miles seeing his effort deflected narrowly wide by Millers defender Christopher Young. The home side had the last chance of the half, Douglas-Pringle lobbing wide when through on goal.
Town came out for the second half and looked to take the game away from their hosts immediately, Miles getting on the end of some neat interplay, only to poke the ball narrowly wide, past the on-rushing Coates. They were not to be denied for long, when Mike Reid picked up a pass on the edge of the Millers penalty area, before seeing his thunderbolt find the far corner of the net.
Just a minute later, and it was Phil Mooney’s time to go close, shooting narrowly across the face of the New Mills goal, before Reid did the same shortly afterwards. Town went four goals to the good on the hour, when, from a quick counter attack, Mooney found McEvilly, who slotted home easily from 12 yards. With both Reid and McEvilly on a hat trick, it was just a question of which one, would be able to take home the matchball, and seven minutes later, that honour went to McEvilly, who finished neatly at the second attempt, after his initial effort was parried by Coates.
Despite being five goals down, the home side continued to attack Town, looking for a goal that their play deserved, twice their captain Carlos Meakin went close, initially heading straight at Adam Judge in the Town goal, before producing a fine save from the Town number one. In between this spell of pressure, Town centre back Jay McCarten saw his powerful free kick go narrowly the wrong side of the upright.
With seven minutes left, the home side got their goal, Meakin seeing his angled header beat Judge and find the bottom corner of the net. That was not the end of the scoring however, youngster James Anderson, was in the right place, to slam home John Driscoll’s knock down from close range, for his first ever senior goal.
