Bay too strong for Town

A WONDER goal from midfielder Michael Reid was not enough to save

Warrington Town from defeat as they went down 1-3 at home to Colwyn Bay

from the Blue Square North.
Reid’s net buster from 35 yards levelled the scores in the first half after the visitors, who included former Chelsea and Leicester Premier League star Frank Sinclair in their ranks, had taken the lead through Kevin Holsgrove.
Town enjoyed their best spell of the game after the break and for fifteen or so minutes looked the more likely side to step on, but the possession failed to produce a killer chance.
Ironically it would be a Town old boy to return the lead to Bay, with a touch of good fortune and a degree of skill. A cross from wide found Alan Collins in a central position. In trying to control the ball it popped up neatly to drop perfectly to allow a volley that left Judge with no chance. The final goal of the game also went to the visitors with a defence splitting pass finding substitute Danny Meadowcroft, who in a flowing move rounded Adam Judge and fired home.
All in all a good test for Town but the difference in status was apparent at times and the result could hardly be argued unjust.
Town manager Shaun Reid rang the changes during the game as he prepares for the first league game at home to Ossett Town a week on Saturday.(Aug 18)
