A 76-year-old man has been airlifted to hospital this afternoon following a collision between a lorry and a pedal cyclist at Warrington.
The incident at the junction of Bridgewater Avenue and Kingsway South has led to traffic hold-ups across a wide area of the borough.
Emergency services are at the scene and road closures are in place.
A police spokeswoman said the road was likely to remain closed for several hours and advised drivers to avoid the area if at all possible.
Anyone with any information about the incident is urged to call Cheshire Police on 101.
