WARRINGTON Town went down 3-1 in their first pre-season fixture against Blue Square Bet Premier side Barrow AFC with manager Shaun Reid testing out his squad by fielding two different sides.
Playing before a good sized crowd, Town only featured three players from last season in their starting eleven, Gerrard Kinsella taking the captain’s arm band, winger Liam Shipton and striker Rob Hardwick.
Barrow, who were having their fourth run out of the season, looked strong and deserved to take the lead on 21 minutes from a trialist who fired past keeper Judge who was left helpless.
The second goal was scored on 36 minutes after some strong running down the right hand side.
Hardwick had the chance to pull a goal back just before half time put failed to connect with a cross from the right wing.
Straight from the kick off, Barrow grabbed a third goal.
On the hour mark Reid, who had already swapped keepers at the break, made 10 outfield changes as the yellows were replaced by the reds.
Almost instantly Warrington grabbed a goal through Tom Timmins who slotted his shot past the Barrow goalkeeper.
Warrington Town now welcome Formby, tomorrow, Tuesday and host a Stoke City XI on Thursday. Both games will kick off at 7:30pm and will be played at Cantilever Park.
