All set for fantastic festival

THE annual Orford Festival this coming Saturday (June 16) promises to be a spectacular event featuring over 200 dancers, aerial work, music and a spectacular light show with fire and pyrotechnics.
It will run from 2pm until late into the evening in the grounds of the newly opened Orford Jubilee Neighbourhood Hub.
There will be community stalls, fairground rides, a dog show, skate park displays, sports activities and entertainment.
Cllr Mike Hannon, (pictured right) deputy leader of Warrington Borough Council and ward representative for Orford, will officially open proceedings at 3pm.
The event is family-friendly and food and drink will be on sale. Picnickers are welcome, but no alcohol is allowed on site.
From 6:30pm local bands will perform including The Animus, Deadbeats, Sonic Image and The Stocks.
At 10pm a dazzling dance and firework display will mark the close of the festival and the community opening of the new facilities. It will also mark the launch of the two new community interest companies that now operate cultural, leisure, wellbeing and library services in the town – LiveWire and Culture Warrington.
Cheshire Dance and Walk the Plank will be performing the highly original “The Moment When…” a large-scale dance piece.
It is a flagship project of the Cultural Olympiad in the North West and Big Dance 2012 and is inspired by the moment an athlete first decides to become an Olympian.
Cllr Hannon added: “We are really excited about this event and hope that people from the local area and beyond will come down to Orford Park to see both the new building and all that is on offer at the festival.”
Events are expected to close at 10.45pm. People are advised to wrap up warm and use public transport if possible.
Parking will be available on a first come, first served basis. From 5pm additional parking will be available at the adjoining Warrington Collegiate site.
