ORGANISERS of the annual Lymm festival are "calling all scarecrow makers, past, present and future" - to make this year's Scarecrow Competition this year the best ever!
Being the "O-lymm-pic year" they are "Going for Gold" and challenging all the families, schools and businesses of Lymm to create a scarecrow demonstrating an "Olymmpic Sport”.
They are suggesting people should choose a famous celebrity or any character from television, films or books and show them taking part in a sporting activity.
Organisers are also appealing to the shops in the village to help create a really good team of sporty scarecrows in the village centre for the Food Fest on June 28.
The Scarecrow Competition was launched in 2004 and there have seen some absolutely superb scarecrows around the village
If there are any old scarecrows from previous years hibernating in sheds or attics – why not dust them down and they could join the May Queen procession this summer and then give them a quick make-over as a sporty scarecrow for this year’s model!
Entry forms and information about the competition, trail guide and quiz will be available on our website www.lymmfestival.org.uk and around the village from the beginning of May.
Registration forms with the £5 entry fee can be handed in at The Coffee House on Eagle Brow.
The Lymm Festival Committee are also looking for more volunteers to help run main events.  This year we are looking to put on more events which appeal to families which
include a fun run and a music festival.  We need the help of the local community to help run the events.  The festival runs from Thursday 28 June to Sunday 8 July.
Contact Paul at volunteer@lymmfestival.org.uk with your contact details and he will get back to you.
