Wonder goal earns Town three points

A WONDER goal from new signing Owen Roberts gave Warrington Town a hard earned 1-0 win over fellow play off challengers Woodley Sports to take their unbeaten run in 2012 to 10 games.
The left sided player who scored with a superb free-kick on 63 minutes was signed on Friday evening from Clitheroe.
In a scrappy game Town had the better of the chances in the first half with Roberts and Allan Collins going close. Just before the break Rob Hardwick had a shot
cleared off the line to send the sides in 0-0 at half time.
The Referee had to part the players on a number of occassions after challenges went in over the top. Town’s Nick Jackson and Rob Hardwick along with Woodley’s Rowney, McGoingle and Chalmers were all booked.
Just after the hour, Town were awarded a free kick, 20 yards out from the Sports goal. Roberts (pictured) stepped up and his shot went straight passed a flat footed Callum Tongue who had no chance of saving the wonder strike.
Woodley threw everything into attack in the final stages but Warrington held on for an important three points.
