WARRINGTON Town kicked off the New Year in style with with a stunning 5-0 victory at basement club Cammell Laird with young striker Anthony Hickey grabbing a hat-trick despite missing a penalty!
In an early 1:00pm kick off in Birkenhead due to floodlight problems, Town opened the scoring after just 10 minutes through Lee Madin, with Hickey (pictured right) adding the second just before the break as Town keeper Chris Oldfield was left with little to do.
Town dominated much of the second half as Hickey added a further two, one of them a penalty, with Substitute Rob Hardwick also finding the back of the net. Hickey could afford to miss a second penalty after the lively Nick Jackson (pictured top) had been brought down in the box after also being felled for the first penalty.
The 5-0 victory is Town’s biggest of the season and they will now look to build on that performance as they welcome Durham City to Cantilever Park on Saturday, kick off 3:00pm.
