CELEBRATIONS of Warrington's successful bid to be a host in the Rugby League World Cup took place at the University of Chester's Warrington campus.
The campus, which is home to Warrington Wolves training centre, will be used as a training ground during the competition. Students helped the bid by developing its advertising campaign.
Senior lecturer in visual communication and digital media Kate Sillitoe said: "Students and staff worked on producing both an advertising campaign, which included posters which were displayed on bus shelters and trains, and a video to promote the town's bid.
"They followed a brief looking at the town's people, place and promise and came up with some fantastic ideas. We're really pleased if we've been able to play a part in this success."
Professor Peter Harrop, pro-vice-chancellor and provost, said: "This is a significant achievement for the town and the university is proud to play its role in supporting this event."
