Burgled three times in three weeks

EXTRA security has been introduced at a Warrington church which has been burgled three times in three weeks.
The raids at St Paul’s RC Church, Clay Lane, Burtonwood have forced church authorities to pay significant sums of money on additional security measures.
Now police are appealing for help from the public to track down the culprits.
Detective Constable Alex Reeves said: “It is a sad state of affairs when people stoop so low and break into a church.
“If anyone has any information about who may be responsible for the burglaries please call police so we can ensure they don’t do it again.
“The church has plenty of good causes that it should be spending what little money it has on, and instead the priest has had to spend it on security.”
The most recent incident was at the presbytery on Saturday, November 26 when a teenage boy was disturbed while trying to force an entry in the early hours of the morning.
The youngster was aged about 14, wearing a hooded top with the hood pulled over his head.
Prior to this a window was forced open and the premises searched on November 21.
Nothing was stolen on that occasion. But a number of items including old gramophones and a marble clock were stolen after someone broke in through a side window on November 14.
Cash was also stolen during a break-in back in August.
Anyone with any information is asked to call police on 101 or alternatively contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
