STUDENTS will help run Warrington's new Youth Cafe to learn skills which will help in their future employment.
Warrington Collegiate youngsters will work at the venue via a series of apprenticeships and volunteering opportunities focused on their skills development.
The college estimates that once the social enterprise is established up to 100 students will work on a rota on a variety of courses. A local graduate student will be overseeing the running of the cafe in the initial development phase.
Students will work at the launch on December 3, including serving food and drink. The young people involved will be trained in running a professional kitchen and undertake qualifications such as completing the food hygiene certificate.
Cllr Terry O'Neill, leader of Warrington Borough Council, said: "The fact that young people themselves from the college will be running the youth café is great news and illustrates the great partnership work that has gone into this project.
"I wish the students involved every success with their training and work at the café and look forward to visiting them there."

No doubt the cynics would argue its no better than them working at McDonalds but this seems like an excellent plan to get people directly involved in the business. Good story!
