LIBERAL Democrat candidate Sandra Bradshaw (pictured) - a member of Poulton-with-Fearnhead Parish Council - has held the vacant Poulton North seat on Warrington Borough Council  for her party.
She topped the poll in a four-cornered by-election battle arising from the tragic death of Cllr Colin Oliver.
It was the third time the seat had been contested this year.
But it was a close result, with Cllr Bradshaw just 43 votes ahead of Labour. And she will have to defend the seat again in the borough council elections in May.
The full result was:  Sandra Bradshaw (Lib Dem) 776; Billy Lines-Rowlands (Lab) 733;  Mark Chapman (Cons) 147; James Ashington (UKIP) 79.
