Town earn Trophy replay

WARRINGTON Town twice came from behind in a 2-2 draw at Sheffield FC to earn an FA Trophy replay at Cantilever Park on Tuesday evening.
But Town were left feeling aggrieved that they didn’t grab a thrilling victory as Chris Gahgan had what appeared to be a perfectly good goal ruled out in the last minute of normal time for apparent hand ball.
Sheffield had the best of the opening exchanges and took the lead on 12 minutes through Jonah Gosling.
But Town were back on level term on 18 minutes through Anthony Hickey (pictured above and right) but then went behind right on the stroke of half-time when they failed to clear the danger allowing Jamie Hadfield to poke the ball home from six yards out.
Both teams were guilty of missed chances in a thrilling second half with the game swinging end to end but Warrington got their just rewards on 65 minutes when Hickey found the back of the net when well placed inside the box.
Hickey missed a great chance to complete his hat-trick when he again found space inside the box but took too long to get a shot in and then Town thought they had done enough to win when Gahgan rifled home from an acute angle, only to have it ruled out by the linesman much to the dismay of the travelling Town fans.
But Warrington will now fancy their chances in Tuesday night’s replay with the winners at home to Bamber Bridge in the next round a week on Saturday.
