WARRINGTON Wolves’ have named their strongest possible 19 man squad for Friday nights play-off semi-final against Leeds Rhinos at the Halliwell Jones Stadium, kick off 8pm.
Head of Coaching and Rugby Tony Smith looks set to stick with the same team which beat Huddersfield so convincingly in the opening qualifier with Mickey Higham and Lee Mitchell both missing out on the 19 and Prop Paul Wood still out with a back injury.
Two other key members of the first team squad are set to miss out when the team is cut to 17 for one of the biggest games in the club’s recent history.
The Wolves have already beaten Leeds twice in the league this season but their former boss Smith said: “You can’t take what happened earlier in the season too much for granted or even results in recent times as it’s about performing on the day. The Rhinos have had some good results lately but so have we, we’ve been in some pretty good form.
“Leeds have got some terrific players and some experienced players as well as the experience of playing at this time of year. We understand this is a new thing for us to be playing this far into the season but it’s great to be coaching this group of players at the moment as they are pretty quick learners and are very committed to one another……..We are very focussed and understand what is needed on Friday and we are prepared to do out best.”
