Town march on in FA Cup

WARRINGTON fans celebrated the start of the “Wembley weekend” with an F.A Cup victory over arch rivals Leigh.
A first half goal by Maltese Under 21 international Richard Chetcuti (pictured right) was enough to see Town through against the “big money men” of Leigh, managed by former Manchester City manager Gary Flitcroft.
Chetcuti finished off a great bit of play by winger Chris Gaghan who gave the former Lymm High School student the chance to finish off at the far post.
Leigh, who were relegated from the Unibond Premier last season, were denied twice by some good goal keeping by Town shot stopper Richie Mottram to keep Warrington in front at the break.
With skipper Mike Tomlinson and Tom Hardwick a tower of strength at the back, Warrington soaked up everything Leigh could throw at them in the second half and always looked dangerous on the break.
Warrington’s reward is a plum home tie against Nantwich from the Unibond Premier at Cantilever Park on Saturday September 12, kick off 3pm.
Before then they face a return match with Leigh in a Unibond Division One North clash which has been switched to Chorley FC on Tuesday evening, followed by a home leage game against Mossley at Cantilever Park next Friday evening.
