Festival owl stolen from beauty spot

AN appeal has been launched to help track down a beautiful carving of an owl which has been sawn off its mounting and stolen from a popular beauty spot in Warrington.
The thief will have used a chain saw to remove the owl carved by Tim Burgess, renowned chain-saw sculptor, as part of the 2010 Lymm Festival project “Talking Up The Trees”.
It was situated by the path leading from the Crouchley Lane car park.
Honor Giles, retiring director of the festival, has expressed her anger and sadness that this should happen. “It beggars belief that anyone should be so selfish and dishonest as to do something like this! I know the owl was a favourite with many visitors to the Dam and I walked past it almost daily with my dog and always felt it was so life-like that it would turn it’s head to watch me as I passed”.
The police have been informed, and anyone who has any information about this theft, should contact them or the Rangers on 01925 758195.
