THE 20th anniversary of Warrington's Disability Awareness Day once again proved to be a huge success as thousands of people flocked to the unique event at Walton Gardens.
The event organised by the Warrington Disability Partnership attracted visitors from far and wide, including a delegation from Thailand!
It proved to be an emotional occasion for WDP Chairman Dave Thompson, who reflected on how the event had grown over 20 years, starting from marking a couple of small sections for exhibitors with a tin of paint with his son Gavin, to a tented village now attracting  tens of thousands of visitors.
Various sponsors and supporters were presented with special commemorative plaques in recognition of their support.
Dave explained how it had been even more difficult to attract sponsorship than previous years but various fund-raising events, including a sponsored scuba dive by himself and others, had ensured the event could continue in a similar format.
Plans are now in hand for the 21st anniversary event next year.

Pictures show Town Crier Peter Powell opening the event, Dave with his nephew Tom Horton (right) who presented him with a commemorative picture of the "DADs Army" team who help organise the event each year and (below) the delegation from Thailand.
