Neighbourhood Weekender a massive success

The inaugural Warrington Neighbourhood Weekender has been hailed a massive success by organisers, festival goers and bands.

Victoria Park rocked for the second day on Sunday as music lovers came from far and wide to enjoy their musical heroes and to experience a host of artists on the 3 stages and were blessed with decent weather despite the forecast of thunder storms.

Headlining the night were Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds who wowed the huge crowd with an awesome performance. Also, on the main stage supporting, were The Blossoms, The Coral, The Sherlocks, DMA’s, Tom Grennan, Black Honey and The Northern Soul Orchestra.

Second stage featured amongst others The Editors, Beth Ditto, The Pigeon Detectives and Louis Berry.

On the Viola Beach stage upcoming bands included The Blinders, Stereo Honey, The Night Café, Anteros, King Nun and Whenyoung.

It proved a fantastic opportunity for fans to enjoy an incredible weekend of live music featuring some of the biggest bands and hottest new artists.

The concert promoters, SJM Concerts, working with the council and local authorities ensured that the two day event was safe, successful and enjoyable for everyone from concert goers to the local community and the police reported a very uneventful and routine evening.

Warrington has put itself firmly on the music festival map based on its first years achievements and plans are already being made to make next year’s Weekender even bigger and better.

Warrington Worldwide will be publishing some of its extensive range of images over the next week

  1. I could hear the crowd singing. … sounded a brill atmosphere. .. not for me… but like to see and hear people enjoying themselves. .. I live at the back off grange Ave. .. but wasn’t too intrusive
Can I make a suggestion .. maybe already happens.. as I don’t recognise hardly any band names… though nice touch to have a stage named after viola beach… what about giving a slot to a local band from Warrington. .. home grown … maybe run a competition in the local guardian. .. people can vote…. I personally never heard this band called Blakes view. … I believe they play at the White Hart and Dead eyes. .. two very popular town pubs…. not even sure if that group is local. … but you get the gist? I hope…
    Many Thanks
